Changes

Whew, what a month (or two…).

I no longer own Focus Web Design! As of Monday 1st October 2005, the new owner/operator is Graham Osborne of Bilby Graphics. It went for a an undisclosed five figure amount, and I’m already feeling the benefits of free time! I’ll still be busy for the next couple of weeks finishing up current client contracts, but once they’re done, I’m free to work during work hours and relax outside of them. Yay!

Within the next couple of months I’ll be moving from casual to full time status at an Internet communications company (web hosting to be more specific), with the responsibilities of systems development and support desk operation. I’m sure looking forward to it – good people to work with, and doing things I love doing – without the hassle of running my own business!

We’ve also just sold our house, and bought a new one. Assuming it doesn’t fall through before the contracts are signed, we’ll be moving from here to here in about 6 weeks. We’ll be converting half of the garage into a fourth bedroom (for me and all my computers), and getting settled in for a week before heading off to Thailand for three weeks. Aaand… as of last night/today, I’ve also decided to go to the UK for two and half weeks on the way home from Thailand (since it’s half way there and all), to have a break from normal life and spend some time with a friend who’s living there for a year. We’re thinking of going on a side trip to Italy or Scotland or something like that…places I’ve never been before, and am certainly looking forward to going to.

So, that’s me in a nutshell at the moment. That’s the happy side, though :) .

The main reason I decided to sell my business was because I’d reached a stage where I almost couldn’t handle things anymore. It was a bad place to be in, because I was starting to get demotivated and overwhelmed at the amount of work, that there were things I just didn’t do (sounds like deja vue from a few years ago). So I think I got out just in the nick of time. Because I can finish current contracts without taking on new ones now, I’m feeling a bit better and looking forward to just being able to relax when I get home from work in the afternoon. Whew…..

So yeah, that’s about it. I’m going to try to post here more often as well – I have been a bit slack recently. I’m thinking of a photo a day kinda thing. If I ever miss a photo in a particular day, I’ve got enough of a backlog of photos to cover 69 years and 9 months, so that shoudn’t be a problem.

Yesterday we went to see our new house, so I’ll start off the photo a day for today with a photo from yesterday.
