Living out of home isn’t all rosy. It’s great, and I love being independant and learning more every day about how to do things, but there are two little problems:
- Clothes need ironing (hardest problem to solve)
- Dinner needs cooking (second hardest problem to solve)
I am really not good at ironing. Firstly, it’s boring. Secondly, it takes too long. Thirdly, when I iron the front of a shirt, I crease the back of it.
So yes, don’t need to say any more about that (except for the fact that Mum is good at ironing, but unfortunately she’s a 20 minute drive away and it’d be quicker for me to iron five times to get it right).
And cooking. It’s fun – I love cooking! Give me a kitchen full of ingredients and 20 people to cook for and I’d love it. But in a kitchen that isn’t full of ingredients it’s very, very hard. As I flick through recipes trying to find something I have the ingredients for I remember what it was like when Mum’s food was on the table…..
Ok, so it’s not really that bad.
I knew this would be a challenge, but that gives me something else to work toward. Ironing and shopping for cooking are the hardest parts, for me, of living out of home – but apart from that I love it! I do things for myself now, which means I always know when my washing will be ready (and I still have all my socks) and I can play music late at night. I’m learning to remember things such as taking the rubbish out every week, and yes I am learning (slowly) how to cook and iron. Skills that will hopefully make me look more attractive to a future wife (did I say that?).
So yeah – that’s all I wanted to say!
And I’m going to Black Stump tomorrow. Yay!
