Daylight saving

Ah yes, we went back an hour this morning.

Guess who forgot!

I was driving down the road, probably about 200m from church, and James Scott from One Way FM comes on the radio. He’s not usually on of a Sunday morning (he usually covers the Breakfast Show on weekdays) so I assumed that the show was pre-recorded. So anyway, I’m driving, watching the clock tick over to 8:32am and realising I’m running a little late for band practice, when James says the time is 7:32am. That’s a bit of a stuff up, I thought. Somehow the One Way FM computer must have started the recording an hour late – at 8am instead of 7am. It was then only a matter of seconds before James explained how he missed his extra hour of daylight saving provided sleep – having to arrive at the old 6am instead of the new – because he had to make sure the One Way FM computer kept up correctly with the change of time.

And that’s when I realised I’d missed my extra hour of sleep too…

I ended up spending my hour at my family’s house, so it wasn’t so bad after all. And I got to have breakfast too.

Next time, I should turn my computer on before I leave, or something. Oh wait, that won’t give me the extra sleep. And it certainly wouldn’t help at the other end of the year. I guess I just need to watch TV more on Saturday nights…
