It’s been awhile

Yes, it has been awhile since my last post.

I have now moved back into my parent’s house, in preparation for the rest of my family moving to Thailand. I’ll be joining them in Thailand for a bit (probably about a month), and then returning to live in the house with a friend or two.

I’m also on extended leave from work at the moment – about 10 weeks in all. I go back mid-September, into a different position from before. I must say – this much time off work is fantastic! I have alot of time to myself, and alot of time to relax and spend time doing things I was always too busy for before. This is the most time I’ve had off work since I left school and started my business (in 2002).

There’s a few things I want to do during my time off. I’m hoping to catch up with a bunch of friends – especially those who I haven’t seen or talked to for awhile – and I also want to spend alot of time thinking about where I’m heading in life, and to start taking some more steps towards that. I’m also working on a few websites. My own website will be getting a makeover, time permitting (my own site is always the last I work on!), and I’m in the process now of applying finishing touches to the new Malones in Thailand site. The new design was launched yesterday, and I’ve also taught Dad how to update it, how to upload photos, and how to use YouTube.

Talking of YouTube, video blogging is another thing I’m thinking of trying soon. If and when I do that, I’ll be posting regular updates here on my site. Oh, and the other major thing I’m doing for my site is revamping the guitar chords section to make it easier to read and search for chords, and easier for me to add new chords (so that I actually add them).

As well as those two sites, I’m working on a site for a friend, and a site for my church (Lifestream Christian Fellowship).

With all this time I have I’m also getting more exercise, and I have been looking around at gym memberships. They are certainly more expensive than I would have thought, but it’s likely worth it – I just have to decide whether I’m able to commit for the 12 month term that most of them are asking for!

I’m also trying to learn alot. I’m looking at beefing up my people skills and communication skills, and also teaching myself more on the drums and guitar – and of course learning some more programming languages.

If I have time, I’m also going to learn more Thai so I can start speaking to my family in another language :) . The rest of them have been learning from books and CDs at this stage, and they’re getting pretty good. Once they arrive in Thailand they’ll be starting language school, which they’ll be continuing for the first 6 months – 1 year of their time there, and by that stage they’ll be pretty much fluent.

So that’s where I am at the moment. It’s all a period of contemplation and change. I wonder what will be next.
