…(at least on NEWS.com.au):

Paris Hilton loses inheritance

Can you believe it? I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised!

I like NEWS.com.au’s interactivity with readers – especially the weekly ‘what you read this week’ round ups. And most of the time, the stories I read are right up the top. I guess that means I’m rather representative of their readership… (notice how I didn’t actually admit that I read Paris Hilton stories).

Other stories in their top 100 include the Federal Election 2007 vote-a-matic (which scored a mention from me too), a man levitating outside the White House, a mum booking a stripper for her son, and of course a few stories on Maddie McCann.

Oh, and NEWS.com.au have their stories planned out for next year too.

Looking through the news at news.com.au this morning, I found this funny (see the ‘breaking news’ section):

It’s good to see a sense of humour in the media. Makes catching up on news all the more fun.

Ah yes, we went back an hour this morning.

Guess who forgot!

I was driving down the road, probably about 200m from church, and James Scott from One Way FM comes on the radio. He’s not usually on of a Sunday morning (he usually covers the Breakfast Show on weekdays) so I assumed that the show was pre-recorded. So anyway, I’m driving, watching the clock tick over to 8:32am and realising I’m running a little late for band practice, when James says the time is 7:32am. That’s a bit of a stuff up, I thought. Somehow the One Way FM computer must have started the recording an hour late – at 8am instead of 7am. It was then only a matter of seconds before James explained how he missed his extra hour of daylight saving provided sleep – having to arrive at the old 6am instead of the new – because he had to make sure the One Way FM computer kept up correctly with the change of time.

And that’s when I realised I’d missed my extra hour of sleep too…

I ended up spending my hour at my family’s house, so it wasn’t so bad after all. And I got to have breakfast too.

Next time, I should turn my computer on before I leave, or something. Oh wait, that won’t give me the extra sleep. And it certainly wouldn’t help at the other end of the year. I guess I just need to watch TV more on Saturday nights…

For those of you who like Sudoku, check out Dave Child’s new version – Colour Sudoku! I’ve yet to really get in to Sudoku – I think it’s too complicated for me to handle – but I can see how it can become addictive.

Since it really is hard to put a new photo every day (I’m trying as much as I can to do one from that day), this is going to be “a photo every few days” now.

We’re in the process of packing, to move in 5 weeks time. We’re having a garage sale next Saturday to get rid of alot of our excess furniture and other possessions, so today we were cleaning up and finding things to take to the garage. We ran into a few problems getting some large furniture items downstairs (I don’t know how we ever got them up there in the first place), so we had to resort to some extreme measures:

Finally – I’ve found a way to force MSN Messenger to open it’s links in Firefox. Even though Firefox is set as my default browser (because I don’t use IE), MSN has been insisting on opening links (such as Hotmail, Spaces, Profiles, etc) in IE. So, if the same thing is happening to you, here’s the software that helped me fix it. Hope this helps someone else as well!

- First, install the Messenger Plus plugin if you don’t have it already (if you haven’t got it, you’ve been missing out on all the functionality it adds to an otherwise quite boring Messenger interface! )
- Next, install StuffPlug, a plugin for Messenger Plus

Once you’ve installed and restarted and everything, open Messenger and sign in. Click the new Plus menu, then Preferences. Select Plugins on the left, click StuffPlug and then Configure. The second option from the top is the one you want to select…and there you go!
