New to RSS?

RSS – short for Really Simple Syndication – is a really simple way to keep up to date with blog posts, news stories, and anything else online that changes regularly. It’s how nerds keep up with daily changing content on hundreds of websites at a time. We obtain a ‘feed’ of information from each site we’re interested in, and then either see it all together on one page, or read it in a program called an aggregator like we’d read e-mails.

You may even use RSS feeds already and not know it. Heard of iGoogle? It’s the personalised Google home page that you can have greet you each time you open up your web browser. You can set it up so that it shows the latest weather from your city, the latest news from the ABC, CNN, BBC or wherever you want it from, and also – the latest blog posts from this blog, or any other! If you’re already doing this, then the ‘newsfeeds’ are likely RSS feeds. To add my site to your feeds, all you need to do is click the ‘Google’ link I’ve conveniently placed on the left.

Now if you’re not using iGoogle yet, I recommend you do. Just visit iGoogle to get started, and follow the instructions. When you’ve set your page up, come back here and click the ‘Google’ link over on the left.

If you have any questions, by all means, feel free to ask!
